NEW IN: HOMEWEAR.

Today I wanted to share with you some of my latest homewear purchases! There seems to be a bit of a theme with me in that as soon as the Christmas decorations come down at the beginning of January I get this uncontrollable urge to spring clean and redecorate everything in sight.

Obviously I don't completely redecorate my entire home each year (although I more than happily would if I could) but instead I try and buy a couple of key pieces of furniture to keep things fresh and in this case I needed somewhere to home another new addition to the household. The Crosley Cruiser Retro Turntable was my main gift to the boyfriend this Christmas but we soon realised that we had nowhere within our living room to use/display it! Cue me madly roaming the internet looking for a suitable piece of furniture to home our new love.

I was on the hunt for something to fit in quite a small area in our living room as well as something that would protect the record player from our pesky cats so I was really quite surprised that I ended up finding exactly what I was looking for in Ikea of all places. I personally do not rate Ikea that highly as a lot of the furniture is lacking in quality and I don't love the fact everyone and their mum ends up having the exact same furniture. Saying that though, I was more than pleasantly surprised to find this Fabrikör industrial medical inspired cabinet for just £150 and I don't think I know of a single person that has it, result! A real medicine cabinet from the early 20th century would set you back an eye watering sum of money and do you know what? The quality of this piece of furniture is actually really good. Being made of steel and tempered glass the Fabrikör is surprisingly strong and the boyfriend and I even managed to put it together without a single sarcastic comment or sly dig - a real test for any relationship!

Within the cabinet itself  I decided to store our current mini record collection, my tipple of choice Crystal Head Vodka, a mini Eiffel tower that we picked up in Paris and this glass dome with fake flower in that I really want to hack apart and fill with cacti. I also made a little marble box using an old Glossy box and some marble contact paper by following this DIY here to hide away the unsightly microfibre cloth needed to clean the records.

Whilst I was still feeling the home decor bug I also purchased a new framed poster for the wall and took down some floating shelves. The introduction of the new cabinet and framed poster have subdued the beast for now and I am really happy with my living room at the moment. Despite that statement I may have already placed a pretty hefty H&M Home order as my office shelving is in need of a face lift - keep your eyes peeled for that one!
