It has been a long ass time since I last posted anything beauty related here on Ladylike Len. That is not to say I don't love beauty and all the fun that comes with it but I don't really have any passion regarding writing about it. I do however love a cheeky little DIY post, so I decided to crack out the nail varnish and try out some new nail art ideas.
Pinterest was my source for inspiration for this one with this picture being the main instigator in my quest to achieve the perfect negative space manicure. Now bear in mind that it had been quite some time since I dabbled in nail art so I chose to simplify my design and go for a simple geometric V.
YOU WILL NEED:
Base coat, top coat, a bright opaque colour, scissors & washi tape.
METHOD:
1.Start off by applying an even layer of your chosen base coat. Leave to completely dry for a good 10 minutes before moving onto the next step. Whilst your base coat is drying you need to cut 10 small squares of washi tape, no larger than a centimetre in width.
2.Once your base coat is completely dry position the washi tape squares onto the top of the nails with one of the corners in the centre of the nail to create a point. Make sure to push down all the edges to ensure a clean line.
3.Now go in with your bright opaque colour of choice, for this I used Nails Inc Baker Street. Depending on the nail varnish you use you will need to do 1 or 2 coats.
4. Once your colour polish has dried remove the washi tape and you should be left with a clean negative space. Now simply finish with a nice thick coat of glossy top coat to ensure your manicure lasts as long as possible.
Overall I absolutely loved this manicure. So much nail art these days is a bit fussy and well, just not very me. Whereas this clean simple shape with the bright blue is so up my street it actually pained my soul a little when it came to removal. Tweet me some photo's at @ladylikelen if you try this one out for yourselves!
Ooh this sort of pared back, statement nail art is right up my street! Definitely going to try this out....I'm picturing it with a nice dusky pink! x
