Do you remember last month when I was really excited and talking about putting my apartment on the market and hoping to move into a beautiful old house by the end of the year? Yeah... well, since then I have completely changed my mind and decided to stay in my current home for another year or so.
I am not going to lie to you, the main deciding factor in my decision was money. It is so disgustingly expensive to buy and sell a property that I decided to re-evaluate and honestly, the only things that weren't working for me in my current home where a lack of garden space, a workspace area and perhaps a larger kitchen. To me currently they are not things that are worth the £10,000 that I would have to spend in moving fees. Yes, I cannot magically extend my kitchen or grow a garden but I am fortunate enough to have a decent sized balcony, a large communal garden and a river only a 5 minute walk from my home. I also have a second bedroom/office that is a somewhat underused so instead of moving out of my home of the past 7 years I have decided to switch up and make the property work for my current needs rather than the needs I had when I first moved in.
So obviously the first thing I did was spend hours looking on the internet for workspace inspiration and finding furniture to fulfil my needs. As the room is already bright white with wooden flooring I have decided to keep the key pieces of furniture in this room white and accessories with brighter colours and of course my beloved copper. To keep prices down and to complement the furniture I had in that room (IKEA Kallax and Alex) I decided to stick with IKEA as the main place to buy the key pieces of furniture from. Its cheap, practical and if I happen to accidentally ruin something whilst working on a DIY project at least it wouldn't break the bank to replace.
Here is the list of products I am lusting after for my new workspace.
A couple of weeks on from then now and I have already sold a day bed and an old desk on Gumtree to free up some room and have even got as far as ordering and building all the IKEA pieces already! I am even sat at the very desk typing up this post. The room is currently far from finished but once I get together the rest of the bits on this wishlist and add a couple of new DIY projects along the way this room will become my perfect workspace and I won't have to move home to have it.
I might even be tempted to do a room tour if that is something you guys would be interested in seeing?
Love the bronze basket, good old H&M!
