I am by no means a fashion blogger. However, that being said fashion is something that I have always had a keen interest in. To be completely honest with you though, I'm not all that into the latest trends or the hottest new designer, for me it is all about style, personal style at that.
"Fashion fades, style is eternal"
Yves Saint Laurent.
To celebrate the Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal exhibition at The Bowes Museum the lovely people over at Farfetch have challenged me to put together an entire outfit centred around the iconic Saint Laurent Le Smoking Tuxedo jacket, a quintessential piece of design that epitomises timeless style. They wanted me to put together a look that not only centred around the tuxedo jacket but that was also an example of a timeless ensemble that could be worn season after season.
All of the items featured in this outfit are Saint Laurent and together I believe that they make the perfect outfit to be worn time and time again. I personally love to mix formal items such as the tuxedo with more casual items such as the ripped jeans and a classic blue and white striped sweater. Together they have a classic french vibe that can be dressed up with the help of some black leather 'Paris' boots or dressed down with a wide brim hat for an afternoon in the city, throw on the tuxedo jacket and you are ready for business.
The bag is actually something that I have had my eyes on for years now, surprisingly enough though I am yet to have a spare £1,770 just to spend on a handbag as at that price I would rather take a 2 week all inclusive holiday. In spite of that it is a beautiful handbag and has really inspired me to step out of my black and tan handbag rut to find something to add a pop of colour to my predominantly monochrome wardrobe. The lipstick pin is just adorable and is something that I would throw on with any outfit. As for the logo chain necklace, I simply cannot leave the house without some form of jewellery on these days and this necklace is a beauty.
"Fashion fades, style is eternal" sums up my ethos on fashion completely and I believe that this outfit is a key example of that. Whether you decide to mix and match the pieces for a more relaxed look or go all out and pile it all on I think these timeless pieces would see you through season after season.
If you happen to live in the north of England and have an interest in fashion make sure you go and check out the exhibition at The Bowes Museum, more info can be found here.
