Despite the wet climate we are currently experiencing here in the UK I refuse to give into the umbrellas and continue to indulge in some of my favourites summer activities no mater what the weather man says! One of my guilty pleasures in the summer is iced coffees and I would happily drink them daily if they weren't usually so high in price and full to the brim with calories. With a large mocha frappuccino from your high street coffee company coming in at a whopping 500 calories I took it upon myself to find an at home alternative and I think I may well have cracked it with this recipe that comes in at under 300 calories.
YOU WILL NEED:
A blender capable of crushing ice, I use the Breville Blend-Active.
3 coffee ice cubes, 1 cup ice, 3/4 cup of skimmed milk, 1 TSP sugar , 1 TSP vanilla essence, 2 TSP hot chocolate/cocoa powder and 2 TSP chocolate sauce.
METHOD:
First off you need to make some coffee ice cubes. To do this simply brew some double strength coffee and fill up an ice cube tray and freeze until solid. Once you have made the coffee ice cubes you simply need to pour all of the above ingredients into the blender and blend until all the ice cubes are crushed. Once blended simply pour into a glass and enjoy! If I am feeling extra fancy and self indulgent I will occasionally top it with whipped cream but this tastes just as good without.
I cannot recommend this recipe enough without tooting my own horn but I really love it and hope that you guys enjoy having a little bit of speciality coffee in the comfort of your own home too! If you do happen to try this out for yourselves please contact me via Twitter as I would love to know what you think of this recipe.
